I’ve personally had a lot of latency issues, and I would prefer to have tick servers! Furthermore, I am interested in improving as a player, and potentially competing for prizes even if I am unable to actually win anything, the fact I could “measure” my progress towards doing so sounds fun. I’m willing to pay when I can get the chance; I understand it costs money to run these things! The issue is I haven’t found a decisive review of either of the major alternate matchmaking sites.
ESEA is what I was thinking about, but it seems half the people here hate it, and the other love it. I live in the UK along with my friends with fiber optic broadband. I generally have around ms latency to London servers. I normally get 60 ms latency on Valve servers at peak times, 30 ms non-peak, ms if I am super lucky once or twice a month. I play like crap on anything higher than 40 ms, and would prefer to be playing on London servers! So the question, what are the ups and down for each of the major alternative matchmaking ‘thingys’ out there?
Is ESEA a decent platform, or are the admins “corrupt” as some describe? Furthermore, which of them have London servers, and which of them allow you to “force” into only London servers, if any?
